Tomy's FINAL FANTASY XIV
Level 70 Challenge!
I'm a FINAL FANTASY XIV newb who's decided to take on the challenge of reaching level 70 before the upcoming expansion! I'll be sharing the ups and downs of my adventures here!
Character Info
Name: Tomy Ffportal
Server: Hades
Class: Marauder
Time Limit: Until the release of Shadowbringers on July 2
Good King Moggle Mog Good King Mog♪
The main story leads you to battle the great moogle king. His moogle servants, who have their own jobs, cast spells like Pom Flare and Pom Holy that sound cute, but hurt like crazy!
And then comes the Wanderer's Palace, a dungeon filled with tonberries. There's a tonberry stalker roaming around that will chase you, and if it catches you, it will hurt you big time. Watch out!
Somehow, we managed to make it to and defeat the tonberry king! Another dungeon off the list!
I even got a photo with my group!
My gear is looking pretty good at the moment. I traded my Allagan tomestones to get the Ironworks set. Hmm, Cid's company is called Garland Ironworks. I wonder if they make this gear. Whatever the case, I love the futuristic style!
Here I am at level 57. Monsters with red or yellow markers next to their names attack me, but the ones ten levels or below don't see me at all. I can even dance in front of them! See? It's nice being high level when you're taking a stroll through mob-infested areas!
I met Yugiri from Doma, and though I can't see her face, she has a female voice. She also seems to have horns of sorts. I wonder who she is... Speaking of Doma, it's also home to Cyan from FINAL FANTASY VI. Right now it's under the rule of the Empire, but I'd love to visit someday.
Hi, everyone! This is Tomy from the FF portal team. Once I conquered the Praetorium, so many quests became available. Completing a storyline unlocks a lot of content!
I even managed to befriend some of the Amalj'aa, who I'd only encountered as enemies until now.
As I was accepting quests left and right, I found myself at the Gold Saucer! I was so focused on leveling that I didn't realize you unlock it at level 15. Much like the amusement park from FINAL FANTASY VII, the Gold Saucer in FINAL FANTASY XIV is chock-full of fun and games!
They even have Triple Triad, a game also available on the FF Portal App!
My favorite game was the Doman Mahjong. The tiles were decorated with cactuars and Namazu. Too cute! I'm not familiar with mahjong, but everything is explained, and I was ready to begin playing right away. My opponents were a mandragora, moogle, and spriggan.
The hints in the bottom right corner were very helpful for a beginner like me. Bam! Read them and weep!
I came in second place. Time flies when you're having fun! I feel like I'm forgetting something important... Oh, right, my adventure.
By the way, I looked into gear after I completed the Praetorium, and I discovered there are level 50 pieces with high item levels you can get in exchange for Allagan tomestones of poetics. I had a surprising amount of them, thanks to the level 50 Duty Roulette. Just enough to get what I wanted!
Participating in "Duty Roulette: Main Quest" gets you additional tomestones, and you gain EXP! Two birds!
Auriana from Mor Dhona will exchange your tomestones for gear. Some really good gear, in fact! I need to do dungeon runs for more tomestones!
The Waking Sands is no longer my base. Hello, Rising Stones! It looks like I'll be getting nice and familiar with this area.
