December 18th
Happy 35th anniversary to FINAL FANTASY! Today marks 35 years since FINAL FANTASY (also known as FFI) released in Japan on December 18, 1987.
Art by renowned artist Yoshitaka Amano, who has contributed countless designs and illustrations to FINAL FANTASY throughout the series, is featured in the FF 35th anniversary logo, portraying the Warrior of Light.
“When darkness veils the world, four Warriors of Light shall come.”
Passed down since ancient times and eventually to the sages now residing around the world of FINAL FANTASY, the prophecy of salvation says that when the world is veiled in darkness, four Warriors of Light will appear to restore light to the crystals and cut the cursed chains of time, saving the world. And as if to follow the story exactly as told, the Warriors of Light appear in the land of Cornelia and fulfill their destiny.
Thus marked the birth of an everlasting symbol of the FINAL FANTASY series.
