FF Weekly: Remember When...

November 21 marks the 10th-release anniversary of LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII, the conclusion of the FINAL FANTASY XIII series! And in this FF Weekly we’d like to introduce the protagonist of this series, Lightning.

During the events of FINAL FANTASY XIII and FINAL FANTASY XIII-2, Lightning saves the floating continent Cocoon alongside her friends in defiance of the orders bestowed upon her by the gods, then assists the goddess of death Etro in her opposition to the knight Caius, who intends to envelop the world in chaos. With the memory of her beloved sister Serah in mind, Lightning then enters a period of rest inside a crystal.

In LIGHTNING RETURNS, Lightning is awoken from her slumber 500 years later and designated as savior to the world by the god Bhunivelze, told that her sister can be revived if she fulfills her role. With only 13 days left until the world ends, Lightning once again embarks on a journey to save the souls of humanity awaiting the world’s end.
